Job Title: Pickaway County ESC - School Behavior Specialist
Location: Assigned to Logan Elm Schools for 2024-2025 school year
Position Type: Full-Time, 205 days (pro-rated for remainder of school year)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Job Description:
The School Behavior Specialist will be responsible for supporting students with behavioral challenges, developing and implementing individualized behavior intervention plans, and providing guidance to staff and families on effective behavioral strategies. The role will also include data collection, behavioral assessments, and promoting a positive school climate.
Key Responsibilities:
Behavioral Support: Assess, design, and implement evidence-based interventions to address behavioral concerns, including developing individualized behavior plans for students.
Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, administrators, counselors, and parents to support students' behavioral and emotional needs.
Crisis Management: Provide support for students in crisis situations, de-escalating challenging behaviors in a calm and effective manner.
Data Collection and Analysis: Track student progress through behavior data and develop reports for school leadership and parents to monitor effectiveness of interventions.
Professional Development: Provide training and guidance to staff on strategies for supporting students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
Prevention and Education: Lead or support school-wide programs on behavior expectations, conflict resolution, and social-emotional learning.
Parent and Family Support: Engage with parents and caregivers to offer behavioral strategies and strengthen school-home partnerships for student success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Certification in Behavioral Analysis (e.g., BCBA) or similar credentials highly preferred.
Proven experience working with students with challenging behaviors, especially in an educational setting.
Strong understanding of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) or other behavioral frameworks.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage crisis situations with a calm, professional demeanor.
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting student growth.
